1975 Graduate of Wilson High School
1979 Graduate of Francis Marion College with a BS Degree in Sociology
At Wilson High School he played 3 years on Varsity was the Team MVP in 1975
In 1974 & 75 he was the WHS Gold Glove Award winner
Player American Legion Baseball two years and was the team MVP in 1975
First FMU Baseball player to sign a professional contract- Chicago Cubs and played in
the 1979 Class A All Star Game. Hit .361 for the season.
In 1980 he was selected to the Spring Training Minor League All Star squad that played
the Major League Cubs. He played both Single and Double A both that season.
Named to FMU Athletic Hall of Fame in 1994 and was the first baseball player inducted
4 year letter winner at FMU
In 1976 FMU won the District Championship
1978 he was All District 6, All Area, Honorable Mention NAIA All American as a Junior
1979 he was All District 6, All Area, All State, First Team NAIA All American, FMU
Team MVP and was the first FMU Baseball player to be named first team All-
American
In 1979 he stole home in the 9th inning to beat the 12th ranked South Carolina Gamecocks
4-3 at Sarge Frye Field and had 2 hits and 3 stolen bases on the night.
FMU had program best 31-7 record as a Senior
Set FMU season school records for stolen bases 65 out of 67 attempts, triples, hits and 57
runs scored and batted 383 with 35 RBI
Career totals of 120 games, .337 avg., 58 RBI, 163 stolen bases
Stolen base total was NAIA National Record
Team record of 105-45during his career
Volunteer baseball coach in City of Florence Recreation leagues.
