   Played on the 1943 Legion State Championship Baseball Team
   Played in the 1946 High School Football All Star Shrine Bowl Game
   Co-Captain of football team in 1946
   Selected to the All State Football Team in 1943 & 1946
   Played two years of semi-pro football with the Florence Stoppers

Set South Carolina record for 60 and older age group in running half marathon races (13.1 miles) at 1 hr 43 minutes in 1987 at Isle of Palms
Ran for over 20 years in over 150 races

Helped in the building of the Florence Soap Box Derby Track

Sworn in USMC in 1944-1946 and received the Presidential Unit Citation & Purple Heart
