James (Jim) Charles Fraser

Graduate of McClenaghan High School in 1951

Graduate of Newberry College in 1958 with BS in Secondary Education

Received Master of Education from Western Carolina in 1968 and was one of the first ten in history to receive a Educational Specialist Degree from Clemson in 1978


At McClenaghan:
  As a Senior he played on undefeated State Championship football team
  Team Captain in baseball and basketball as a Senior
  Played in North-South All Star Basketball Game and scored winning basket
  Received the Ira S. Rainwater Award in 1951
  Voted Most Athletic
  Scholarship to USC and played football, baseball & basketball 1951-1953
  Played on the USMC Regimental Basketball, Baseball & Football in 1953-1955
  Played 1955-1958 in football & was Team Captain and baseball at Newberry College

Served as Assistant Football, Head Baseball & Basketball Coach at Bennettsville HS (now Marlboro County) from 1958-1961; Aiken HS as Assistant Football and Head Baseball Coach from 1960-1961; Head Basketball & Football Coach & Athletic Director at Aiken from 1961-1967 & Head Football Coach and Athletic Director at T. L. Hanna HS from 1968-1984

Football teams won 168 games and he served as winning Head Coach in the 1982 North-South Football Game and in the 1976 Shrine Bowl
He was a winning Assistant Coach in the 1968 North-South All Star Game and the 1970 Shrine Bowl

Over 100 of his players received football college scholarships

Served as South Carolina Athletic Coaches Association President in 1978 and was nominated for National Athletic Director of the Year in 1983-1984

Is a member of the South Carolina Athletic Coaches Association Hall of Fame
Presents Player of the Week & Year Awards at Anderson TD Club and is color analyst on local high school football & basketball games

Brought "Radio" to T.L. Hanna where he served as a mascot, equipment manager and was later made into a movie

Deacon and Sunday School Teacher at First Presbyterian Church in Anderson
Former Rotarian and Chairman of the Anderson County Red Cross
Adjunct Professor at Anderson College in Department of Education.
