Chick-Fil-A Florence Athletic Hall Of Fame HOME INFORMATION INDUCTEES SPONSORS Dr. Thomas Lee Adams, Jr.Graduate of 1956 Class of Wilson High School BS Philosophy degree from SC State University MA Ed Admin & PhD in Higher Ed Admin from University of Pittsburgh Served as Vice President and President of the student body at Wilson Played basketball, baseball and football at Wilson Played football on US Army 25th Infantry division team & participated in Coconut Bowl First African-American to be recruited by the University of Cincinnati, where he played for one season before tranfserring to SC State First Team All Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference running back at South Carolina State College in 1960 & the team's high scorer Lettered three years at SC State where he played football & baseball One of the first African-Americans to officiate a nationally televised NFL game on a major network (CBS) Maintained at least a 3.0 GPA throughout high school and college, and graduated Cum Laude in 1962 Commissioned as a Second Lieutenant & retired at the rank of Lt. Colonel, US Army Teacher and coach at Brewer High School in Greenwood 1962-1963 |
